In this lecture, Professor Jan Klabbers will explore the tension that exists between the putative public mission of intergovernmental organisations and the ways in which they relate to the private sector. In particular, he will discuss the various ways intergovernmental organisations can (and do) interact with the private sector, and place the growing awareness of private sector involvement against the background of the leading functionalist theory of the law of international organisations.

This lecture is co-hosted by the Laureate Program in International Law and the Institute for International Law and the Humanities (IILAH).
