Written by Gertrude Stein, presented by Acting Company 19 and graduating Production students. Directed by Alyson Campbell.

Gertrude Stein, one of the giants of modernist formalism, takes the Faust myth for what could be seen as an eco-feminist spin: selling your soul for electric light. Our production, DFLTLX, asks how we might think about that now, in terms of the pact we have each made with technology, and explores the impact of her brilliant, sparkling text in performance.

Please note: the performance on 18th June at 7.30pm will be followed by a Q+A, featuring director Alyson Campbell (Associate Professor in Theatre (Dramaturgy and Directing) at the University of Melbourne), Paul Rae (Associate Professor in Theatre Studies at the University of Melbourne), Sarah Balkin (Lecturer in English and Theatre Studies at the University of Melbourne).

This production uses haze, smoke and moments of flickering fluorescent/intense lighting. We can provide timings for these moments at Front of House and seat you according to requirements.
