EMBODIED ART: Interdisciplinary workshopComing from two different disciplines (contemporary dance and art), Prue and Mathieu's common fascination is the infinite act of creation. In a sense interdisciplinary involves approaching a subject from various angles and methods, eventually cutting across disciplines and forming a new method. This new method for understanding the subject is an important part of their creative practice and the focus of this workshop. The workshop begins by looking at three existing artworks from Bruce Nauman, Carolee Schneemann and William Forsythe in which the body is at the core of the work.
You will examine the way in which each artist dialogues between different forms, re-defining existing models of performance. The workshop will culminate in wide-ranging experimentation in movement-based forms, while simultaneously nurturing the individuals' discourse or interests.
