The New Moon Festival is a two-day celebration of new creative music featuring the talents of leading Australian improvising musicians, MCM students and staff from the past, present and future. Be part of the interactive experience. Watch, listen, discuss, direct, perform. Concerts, jazz club, artist discussions, and a jazz/hip hop massed orchestra created and conducted by Melbourne everything artist Zvi Belling.

The New Moon Festival is an annual event in the Melbourne music calendar offering audiences the opportunity to jump in to the new. A festival that celebrates musical adventure, blue sky thinking and improvisation as an evolving art form informing new music-making in all fields.

Festival highlights:

  • Gary Daley and Paul Cutlan – NSW accordion/woodwind duo fusing classical/world music and jazz
  • A jazz/hip hop massed orchestra created and conducted by Melbourne everything artist Zvi Belling
  • Uncomfortable science led by Lachlan Mitchell
  • Pocket Size Concerts – solo, duo, and trios in intimate spaces
  • VCA Bright Future Concerts – VCA students performing in small and large ensembles.

Individual Tickets Full $15/Concession $10 Evening (Friday or Saturday). All Day Ticket (Saturday Only) Full $30/Concession $15. Full Festival Pass Full $50/Concession $25.
