ART150 Forums: Louis Kaplan and Melissa Schiff
See more events from
Canadian artists Louis Kaplan (Professor of History and Theory of Photography and New Media, University of Toronto) and Melissa Schiff (principal investigator and artistic director) are currently working on a new virtual reality/augmented reality art project, ‘The Imaginary Jewish Homelands of IN Steinberg’, set in two key remote sites in Australia. The five-year collaborative research-creation grant from the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada imagines IN Steinberg’s plans to settle Jewish refugees in the Kimberley region and Port Davey, Tasmania, against the backdrop of the European Holocaust in the late 1930s and early 1940s.
The ART150 Forum Series features artists discussing their work and ideas, followed by a Q&A. It's part of ART150: Celebrating 150 years of Art.
