Susan Prescott is Winthrop Professor at The University of Western Australia and a practicing pediatrician at the Children’s Hospital in Perth, where she specialises in treating children with asthma and allergic diseases. Susan is a Director of the World Allergy Organisation and has received many awards and fellowships including a Winston Churchill Fellowship. She is also the founding leader of the DOHaD Consortium (Developmental Origins of Health and Disease) in Western Australia which focuses on the importance of early life in preventing many chronic diseases later in life. Susan completed her medical training at UWA in 1988, also completing an honours year in research. From 1991 to 1996 she trained in general pediatrics, immunology and allergy at Princess Margaret Hospital. In 1998 she completed her PhD studies and specialist training. Professor Prescott’s research is internationally recognized. She is author of The Allergy Epidemic: A Mystery of Modern Life and The Calling in addition to more than 200 scientific publications.
