Dr Alan Renwick is the Deputy Director of the Constitution Unit at University College London. His research focuses on the institutions through which citizens can engage in democratic decision making, such as electoral systems, referendums, and deliberative assemblies. His books include The Politics of Electoral Reform (Cambridge University Press, 2010) and Faces on the Ballot: The Personalization of Electoral Systems in Europe (Oxford University Press, 2016, co-authored with Jean-Benoit Pilet). He is currently Director of Research for the Independent Commission on Referendums and Director of the Citizens’ Assembly on Brexit.
