Dr Agung Hujatnika is a Lecturer in the Visual Art Study Program, Faculty of Art and Design, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). He obtained his doctorate on art curatorship at ITB in 2012 (published by Marjin Kiri in 2015). He was Chief Curator at Selasar Sunaryo Art Space, Bandung, for twelve years. He was also a curator-in-residence in Australia (Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane; Drill Hall Gallery, Canberra, 2002), Japan (Nanjo and Associates, Tokyo, 2004; Arts Initiative Tokyo, 2011) and Vietnam (San Art, 2014).
He has curated many major national and international exhibitions, including ‘Exquisite Corpse’ at the Bandung Pavilion for the Shanghai Biennale, Shanghai (2012); ‘Not a Dead End’ for the Jogja Biennale - Equator #2, Yogyakarta (2013); ‘Concept Context Contestation’ at the Bangkok Art and Cultural Centre, Bangkok (2013); ‘Passion Possession’ at the Hong Kong Arts Centre, Hong Kong (2014); A.D. Pirous' solo exhibition ‘Verses of the Universe’ at the University of Malaya Gallery, Malaysia (2015), and, most recently, the Indonesian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale (2017).
