David is a Professor in psychiatric epidemiology at UCL. He trained at both Cambridge University and UCL. He works clinically as a consultant psychiatrist in a Crisis Team. His main academic expertise is the interface between physical and mental health. Over the last 15 years he has published a wide range of research relating to cardiovascular disease in people with severe mental illness. He has evaluated interventions to improve screening and management of cardiovascular risk. Much of his currently funded research focuses on large routine clinical databases deriving from general practices and trials. His work on cardiovascular disease has been cited in guidelines across the World and has fed into various policies to improve physical health care for people with poor mental health.
