On the Shoulders of Giants: Shifting sands in the field of assessment
Dean's Lecture Series 2015 Presented by the Melbourne Graduate School of Education
After a career spanning more than 40 years in the field of educational assessment, Professor Griffin will reflect on assessment changes over this time, how this is linked to teaching and how it is changing teaching practices. He will also predict assessment changes well into the 21st-century.
Global shifts in employment, education and social life have demanded a new approach to assessment and new ways of communicating assessments to students, teachers, parents and the community. Professor Griffin will explore the influence of key individuals and theories on these trends, detail case studies of systemic changes and reflect on the role of the University of Melbourne in promoting, initiating and pioneering some of this work.
Professor Patrick Griffin is the Director of the Assessment Research Centre, the Chair of Education (Assessment) and the Associate Dean (Strategic Projects) at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education.
