Plenary Sessions Opening Researcher @ Library Week
Two outstanding speakers will examine how we are dealing with the data revolution - from creating digital exhibitions and interactive visualisations through to policy, data science and capacity building.
Professor Sarah Kenderdine has created exhibitions and installations that amalgamate cultural heritage with new media art practice, especially in the realms of interactive cinema, augmented reality and embodied narrative. She is considered a pioneer in the field of digital heritage, digital humanities and big data visualisation. Her topic for this keynote is Engagement Science: immersive virtual environments in the public domain.
Dr Simon Hodson is the executive director of CODATA and sits on numerous project steering boards and strategic working groups related to the area of research data. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Dryad Data Repository, a not-for-profit initiative to make the data underlying scientific publications discoverable, freely reusable, and citable. His topic for this keynote is Responses to the data revolution: policy, data science and capacity building.
