Creating Parity: Mr Andrew Forrest in conversation with Associate Professor Rufus Black

Australia is failing its first peoples. The disparity between Indigenous and other Australians has reached crisis point. Tens of billions of dollars have been spent by well-intentioned governments to address Indigenous disadvantage. Progress has been made in some areas, yet a massive 30 point gap in employment outcomes between Indigenous and other Australians remains.

Andrew Forrest, Chairman of Fortescue Metals Group and Minderoo Foundation, has outlined a suite of recommendations to end the disparity once and for all. Commissioned by the Prime Minister, Andrew Forrest’s Creating Parity Review has detailed 27 recommendations on how to tackle the disparity from the womb to work. Its recommendations have wide-ranging implications for public policy, and will require a seismic change in approach.
