2025 Jenny Leaper Lecture: ‘I am willing to embrace it but am worried I will do….: Enriching Early Childhood Education through Indigenous Perspectives’
Early Childhood education policy mandates that every child participates in an educational journey that nurtures their confidence, fosters creativity, and lays the foundation for lifelong learning success. In this vision, all children become engaged and knowledgeable members of their communities, possessing a deep understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.
This presentation will explore the opportunities and barriers faced by Early Childhood educators in embedding Indigenous perspectives in their teaching and learning by drawing on an Early Learning Needs Assessment conducted by Ngarrngga and the Assessment and Evaluation Research Centre.
