Join MYRIAD, the Percussion Ensemble of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, for an exciting and haunting array of works, featuring world premieres by staff and student composers, including our own students and staff as soloists, as well as classics in the repertoire by Australian and international composers.

Honours student Felix Gilmour will feature as snare drum soloist in Askell Masson’s tour de force snare drum concerto with percussion ensemble, Konzertstuck.

Conservatorium composition students Kylie Cheah and Oscar Jenkins-Wing will have their brand-new percussion quartets premiered by MYRAID.

Head of Percussion Brent Miller, along with Conservatorium alumni Aditya Bhat and Honours student Felix Gilmour, will give the premiere of Elliott Gyger’s percussion trio, from his monumental set of new pieces written this year with support from the Australia Council, titled The Idea of Perfection, after the novel of the same name by Kate Grenville.

MYRIAD, joined by Head of Voice Stephen Grant as narrator, will perform Mark Pollard’s new dramatic work for narrator and percussion, ‘The Ghost of Siglufjördur, Episode 3: The Haunting’, drawn from his five-part musical mini-series exploring Icelandic myths, presented alongside his original film, Duplex.

Making good ideas stick: an introduction to implementation science

Date
Jun
9
Time 4:00pm - 5:30pm
Categories Public Lecture

The Melbourne Centre for Behaviour Change invites you to join us for another network and learn event! Dr Marlena Klaic is a Senior Research Fellow in Implementation Science at the University of Melbourne and a Health Services Researcher at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Working across academic and clinical settings, she brings extensive experience in translating research into practice and advancing the science of implementation.

Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity to network with like-minded colleagues over refreshments and canapes. Ticket price $15.00.

We warmly invite researchers, practitioners, strategists, policymakers, and advocates to join us for an afternoon of engaging and thought-provoking discussion on behaviour change.

We hope you can join us.

Session Summary

Why do effective interventions so often fail to reach the people who need them? This talk introduces implementation science, the study of how evidence-based practices are adopted, embedded, and sustained in real-world settings. Drawing on practical examples, Dr Marlena Klaic will explore the key concepts and methods that help bridge the gap between what works in research and what happens in practice. Suitable for academic and industry audiences alike.
