This lecture is based on Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri’s recent book, A Comparative Analysis of the Constitution of Medina and Contemporary Western Constitutions, which has been published in English, Arabic and Urdu. This book compares the Constitution of Medina with modern constitutions, elucidating that the constitution of Medina addresses a range of important issues, including the nature and status of the state, the constitutional rights of individuals within the state, the responsibilities of the state, the rights and obligations of its citizens, and other governmental matters.
The lecture offers a clear and concise overview of the Constitution of Medina, emphasising the fundamental principles crucial for fostering fair and just societies, and an in-depth analysis of some key Islamic constitutional principles.
