This talk will review some of the progress that has been made in our understanding of dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease over the past three decades, with specific reference to work undertaken by staff of the University of Melbourne.

Emeritus Professor David Ames AO graduated from the MBBS at the University of Melbourne in 1978 and has specialised in old age psychiatry since 1985.
