Dr. Butler will discuss how informatics solutions support clinicians in making decisions in the contexts of antibiotic stewardship and patient centered care. She will discuss work funded by the Centers for Disease Control and the Veterans Health Administration about the reactions of primary care clinicians, antibiotic stewards, and dentists toward appropriate antibiotic prescribing and to potential intervention approaches. She will discuss her collaborations to support patients and families in communicating with healthcare teams and using tools to support clinicians in thinking in new ways– shifting the context of decisions to be increasingly patient centered in inpatient and outpatient environments.
