Composed in 1686, Marc-Antoine Charpentier's two-act chamber opera La Descente d'Orphée Aux Enfers was first performed for the great patroness Marie de Lorraine, last member of the House of Guise, and her niece Élisabeth Marguerite d'Orléans.

Rarely performed, this extraordinary masterpiece is presented in a fully-staged version by students and staff of the Early Music Studio and the Vocal Department of the MCM in a historically-informed manner.

Free, bookings essential.
