The conference will focus on themes of recent and continuing significance in constitutional law, including non-statutory executive power, proportionality in Australia following McCloy, retrospectivity and the rule of law. The final session of the conference will focus on the landmark constitutional law decisions of the ‘French Court’.
Papers will be delivered by leading practitioners and academics. Confirmed speakers include the Hon. Kenneth Hayne AC QC, Justin Gleeson SC (Banco Chambers), Professor James Stellios (ANU & 6 St James Hall), Professor Adrienne Stone (Melbourne Law School), Professor Fiona Wheeler (ANU), Associate Professor Leighton McDonald (ANU) and Dr Brendan Lim (Eleven Wentworth).
A major public lecture will be held on the evening prior to the conference, 20 July, at Melbourne Law School.
