Powering the Future seminar #5

The Melbourne Energy Institute invites you to its fifth seminar in the Powering the Future series, presented by Dean Sharafi and Dr Mohammad Mohammadi from Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), and Professor Pierluigi Mancarella, from the University of Melbourne.

Australia’s electricity systems are undergoing one of the fastest energy transitions in the world, driven by large-scale renewable integration, storage deployment, electrification, and the retirement of conventional generation. At the same time, the resilience of both the National Electricity Market (NEM) on the east coast and the South-West Interconnected System (SWIS) in Western Australia is being tested by increasingly complex operational conditions, extreme weather events, fuel supply interactions and changing demand patterns.

Disclaimer: The views and opinions expressed are those of the presenter and do not necessarily reflect the official position of The Melbourne Energy Institute and The University of Melbourne.

The Melbourne Energy Institute welcomes broad discussion. Please engage respectfully and considerately with all perspectives.

The Future of IP Dispute Resolution

5.30pm | Pre-event refreshments
6.00pm | Public lecture / live stream

The legal landscape is changing before our eyes. The advent of AI and digital assets, the internationalisation of dispute resolution, and the changing expectations of users, all pose challenges, and intellectual property has always raised issues of its own.

This lecture will examine the state of intellectual property litigation today in the wider context, consider where it needs to be in future, and look at how we need to adapt to meet the challenges.

The topics include the major legal problems in IP which will need to be addressed; the legal and practical impact of artificial intelligence; the importance of digital assets and tokenisation; and the emergence of alternative modes of resolving dispute resolution.

The livestream will commence at the following times:
NSW/VIC/TAS/ACT: 6:00pm
QLD: 6:00pm
SA: 5:30pm
NT: 5:30pm
WA: 4:00pm
NZ: 8:00pm
