Managing Commonwealth supported places: The job-ready graduates era and afterwards

Job-ready Graduates gave universities new flexibility over how they used Commonwealth supported places. Separate allocations for sub-bachelor, bachelor and postgraduate places were merged into a single flexible fund. Drawing on interview research with university leaders and officials and empirical analysis of enrolment trends, this presentation will explore university responses to this new flexibility. The impact of Job-ready Graduates funding rates will also be examined. The seminar will conclude with discussion of how the new ATEC-driven funding system might affect university strategies.

This year, Professor Noel Harding presents Advancing the Accounting Profession: A pathway to meaningful research collaboration and positive impact, examining the imperative for greater collaboration within and beyond the accounting profession in responding to contemporary challenges, and the critical role of research in enabling that collaboration to deliver positive societal impact.
Professor Harding will outline a pathway for members of the profession, including accounting practitioners and researchers, to more effectively realise the benefits of the research currently being undertaken.
The lecture will explore how stronger connections between research and practice can foster meaningful collaboration, support informed decision-making and contribute to positive outcomes for the accounting profession and wider society.

The CPA Australia – University of Melbourne Annual Research Lecture is a longstanding partnership between CPA Australia and the University of Melbourne, bringing together leading academics and industry experts to share research and insights on important issues shaping the accounting profession.
Established in 1940, the lecture series has been held every year without interruption, making it the University of Melbourne’s longest-running continuous annual research lecture series and one of the world’s most enduring accounting lecture series.
