\n A significant part of building up an 'i ndustry engaged' research career is establishing partnerships with organi sations and entities beyond the university\, which – if successful – progress into more formal relationships through funding agreements\, MoUs \, and over time set out distinct track records for you or your research team. Taking more 'meaningful' approaches to building research partnershi ps is also a key ethos of the Centre for Cities. This session will worksh op some 'real world' and active partnerships that are of relevant to the centre\, and explore both the crafting of these relationships\, and the f ormal hurdles (and loopholes) that need to be considered at different poi nts through this process.

His current research focuses on the w ay that cities are contributing to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Dev elopment\, as well as urban climate resilience and adaptation planning in Pacific Small Island Developing States. From 2016-2020 Alexei was the Fu ture Cities Coordinator at the Melbourne Sustainable Society Institute.\n

\n Anna Edwards is a PhD researcher at the University of Melbourne\, funded by a Research Training Program S cholarship.\n
\n\n Anna is researching the evolution of Australia' s night time economy\, with a particular focus on night time labour marke t trends and government initiatives. The research will map history\, poli cy and data to demonstrate the development of the night time economy in A ustralia and distil common themes.\n
