Grimwade Medallist Oration - Nobel Prize winner Brian Kobilka “G Protein coupled receptors: Challenges and new approaches to drug discovery”
The 2024 Grimwade Medallist Oration, sponsored by the Department of Biochemistry & Pharmacology, will be presented at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre as a Public Lecture at the opening of the Biomolecular Horizons 2024 Conference.
The Grimwade Medal for 2024 will be presented to Professor Brian Kobilka from the Department of Molecular and Cellular Physiology at Stanford University, School of Medicine, California USA.
Professor Kobilka won the 2012 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs).
The Grimwade Medal funded by the Russell and Mab Grimwade Miegunyah Fund has been a significant supporter of academic activity at the University of Melbourne. The Grimwade Medal aims to promote the discipline of biochemistry and molecular biology by inviting a stellar researcher each year to visit the University.
