The appearance in recent years of bacteria that have become resistant to all antibiotics is an emerging global catastrophe. New technologies, in particular genomics, are playing an important role as the world tackles the rise of this potential public health disaster. In this seminar, the application of high-throughput DNA sequencing and genomic-based techniques to understand and prevent the spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria will be described.
